Place of birth: New York City
Marital status: Single
Known relatives: None
Group affiliation: Current member of Retribution, former member of the Protectors
Base of operations: New York City
First appearance and origin: Protectors #27
History: When he was a child, Ralph J. Holman's parents enrolled him in gymnastics. His interests turned to more cerebral pursuits as a teenager, however. He spent many hours in the science labs at school. Outside of school, Holman didn't have much of a social life. The majority of his free time was dedicated to tinkering with electronics. Machines fascinated him and he disassembled almost any device he could get his hands on. By the time he was in high school, there was hardly a piece of equipment that mystified him.

Holman decided not to pursue a college education. The life of a self-employed inventor appealed to him. He was very successful selling his creations, both large and small. Before long, he had made for himself a very comfortable living. Unfortunately, he was unfulfilled in his solitary existence and craved excitement. The Protectors made an impression on him with their headline-grabbing exploits in New York City. Holman knew that he could live the life of a super-hero, given the proper equipment at his disposal. He went to work on the necessary components for his alter ego: transportation in the form of a custom motorcycle, his power pistol, stealth technology, and a device to animate machinery. Feeling very qualified to fight crime as a hero, he called himself Cyclon.

Cyclon was introduced to the world in dramatic fashion. During New York City's crisis brought about by Diablo's poisoning of the water supply, the ex-Protectors had their hands full with Mr. Hyde, the Taskmaster, and Diablo himself. Out of desperation, Diablo took Densitron hostage to bargain for his safety. As the super-heroes weighed their options, Diablo's helicopter surprisingly began to descend. Cyclon used his machine animator to override Diablo's controls and forced him to land. Cyclon then emerged from the shadows and fired at Diablo with his power pistol. Diablo quickly surrendered and was captured.

The ex-members of the Protectors were understandably impressed with Cyclon's capabilities. When the group decided to reunite, Cyclon was offered membership on the team. He was with the Protectors until the time when Major Darkstar announced he was leaving to form his own super-team. Major Darkstar wanted a team that was willing to work outside of the rules (and the law) when necessary. Cyclon agreed to join this new group known as Retribution.
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 170 lbs.
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown
Strength Level: Cyclon possesses the normal human strength of a man of his age, height, and build who engages in moderate regular exercise.
Known superhuman powers: None
Limitations: Cyclon's motorcycle features proprietary energy cells for its power source. Sufficient power is never a problem for the bike. In fact, the reverse is true. The energy in the power cells continually builds up and needs to be released. If the motorcycle is not driven for an extended period of time (perhaps several weeks), the pent up energy will eventually cause an overload. An overload will cause certain damage to the bike and could seriously injure any bystanders.
Abilities:
Cyclon is a genius with electronics but possesses no innate super-powers. All of his powers are derived from technology. He is able to control the functions of almost anything mechanical. It is like he has a universal remote control for mechanical devices. In addition to manipulating mundane devices, he has used it to override the programming of robots. Cyclon is a true genius when it comes to weapons design. Using available materials, he is able to rapidly prototype a weapon in his mind and assemble it quickly. Assuming he has the resources available, he could probably duplicate and assemble just about any weapon in existence. Cyclon has developed his own stealth technology. Aptly described as his own personal cloaking device, it masks visual and auditory feedback, making him almost impossible to track.

Cyclon is very nimble and is quite proficient in acrobatics and tumbling. His disciplined, logical mind is very resistant to any form of mental attack.

Cyclon designed and built his own motorcycle. His custom bike is superior to a standard motorcycle in almost every way. Its handling, acceleration, speed, and durability exceed practically any other vehicle in its class.
Weapons: Cyclon uses his Power Pistol as his weapon of choice. He developed the Power Pistol to contain as much firepower as possible within the design constraints of a handgun. Despite its unremarkable appearance, the Power Pistol's destructive ability is comparable to a bazooka or a LAW (Light Anti-tank Weapon).
