History: Ever since he was a teenager, Dan Phillips liked to build things. He found entertainment in putting together model airplanes, model rockets, crystal radios, and just about anything else that required assembly. He loved the feeling of accomplishment that came with a creation that he could call his own. These interests led him to a college degree in advanced engineering and a career as a professional engineer. Phillips designed several technologies but was proudest of his density manipulator, a device that could alter the density of objects. He incorporated the density manipulator as well as several defensive technologies into a high-tech body suit.

Phillips took on the identity of Densitron whenever he wore the high-tech suit and kept his own identity secret. As Densitron, Phillips felt very safe and decided that he could do an effective job fighting crime. After Firebolt was killed and Tsunami retired, the Protectors were in need of new members. It was at that time that Densitron joined the New York City super-team.

Densitron was a member of the Protectors when Lightning Lord went on his murderous rampage. After an attempted attack on Firephase, Lightning Lord proceeded to St. Arbogast hospital and threw a helpless Gary Thompson out his fifth-story window. Densitron and Blast discovered Thompson's lifeless body on the street and confronted Lightning Lord. The duo subdued Lightning Lord and Blast bludgeoned him to death. After the public backlash surrounding the incident, the Protectors were disbanded.

Without the Protectors, Dan Phillips put his life as Densitron behind him. For six months, he struggled financially as an unemployed inventor. He improved the design and effectiveness of his density manipulator, however, and considered selling it or licensing the technology. Phillips returned to action as Densitron when the city faced a crisis brought about by Diablo. The Protectors reunited to stop Diablo in his plot to control New York City with mind-control drugs.

Densitron agreed to rejoin the Protectors and fought against a wide variety of criminals including the Maggia and Arcade. He and the team traveled back in time to correct an altered timestream. The Deathmasters returned after a lengthy hiatus and brought with them a dangerous threat. They animated and controlled the Force Mover in an effort to wield his formidable powers to their advantage. The Protectors engaged their bitter enemies in combat in an effort to stop them. Densitron fought valiantly but was slain in combat against the Deathmasters.
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 180 lbs
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown
Strength Level: Without the armor, Dan Phillips possessed the normal human strength of a man of his age, height, and build who engaged in intensive regular exercise. With his strength augmented by the armor, Densitron could lift (press) 1500 pounds.
Known superhuman powers: None
Abilities: Dan Phillips was an inventor with exceptional engineering skills. His high-tech body suit housed the density manipulator. The density manipulator allowed Densitron to increase or decrease the density (and thereby mass) of other on touch. The suit augmented his strength and agility to superhuman levels while providing him with excellent defenses. The armor was able to significantly reduce damage from most bladed weapons and normal firearms. Densitron's body suit could withstand extreme temperatures and afforded its wearer safety even in a blazing fire. Phillips also built in sound dampening technology that protected his hearing from loud sounds and certain types of sonic attacks. Unfortunately, Densitron's body suit was bulky and quite heavy. Even with the strength augmentation, Densitron's endurance suffered in the suit and he tired more easily.
