Internet Arcade

One thing I’ve enjoyed a great deal this month has been playing games on The Internet Arcade. It contains a large selection of arcade games from the 1970s to the 1990s. These aren’t watered down home video console versions either. They are the real deal—original coin-op classics. The games are emulated in JSMAME and playable in a web browser. Currently, The Internet Arcade has ten of the games on my all-time favorite coin-op games list. Also, seven out of nine of my honorable mentions are there as well.
I’ve played dozens of the available games and that is only scratching the surface. I really loved playing some of the early shooters, particularly Phoenix and Galaxian. Along with Galaga, these games raised the gameplay of Space Invaders to a whole new level. I think they are just as fun and addicting today as they were back then.
